Book Review: St. Clare (a short biography)

Last week a copy of Sr. Joan Mueller's St. Clare (a short biography)arrived at my house.  I was intrigued by the book simply because it was a short biography and my limited knowledge of St. Clare.  I realized almost instantly that this book and my free time for the afternoon were the perfect chance for me to learn a little more about St. Clare.

At fifty-six pages long, you can easily read this biography on St. Clare in an hour or two.  I sat out on my deck while my toddler napped and soaked in the sun and lots of information on the life of this inspirational saint who chose to embrace a Franciscan way of life.`I'm amazed at how much information was packed into this little book.  By the time I finished the book I felt like I knew St. Clare so much better.

Personally, I'd love to see more short saint biographies like this one.  As I read though this book I kept thinking to myself that this book was just the right length for a young person who is preparing for confirmation.  Over the past few years I've had my eldest daughter read about the lives of saints so she can become better acquainted with them.  My goal is for her to pick a patron saint that inspires her for her confirmation.  Short saint biographies like this book on St. Clare would be a great way to introduce young people in middle school through high school to a variety of saints.

I was provided with a copy of St. Clare (a short biography) by the publisher, Franciscan Media, in exchange for my honest review.  You can take a peek insidethis book at Amazon.
