Book Review: Challenge on the Hill of Fire

Beth and Patrick, of the Imagination Station series, go on another adventure in time to fifth-century Ireland.  In Challenge on the Hill of FireMr. Whittaker sends them back in time after Patrick tells him of his plans to trap a leprechaun, but instead they find a treasure without compare.

As children read of Beth and Patrick's latest adventure, they'll be turning pages wanting to know how the pair of cousins will avoid being enslaved or worse, sacrificed to the Duids pagan Gods.  Along the way, they meet some fellow Christians, and eventually meet up with the bishop, who just so happens to be St. Patrick.

The Imagination Station books are a fun adventure series for young readers who are just starting out with chapter books.  The books contain a several black and white drawings depicting scenes from the cousins' adventure.  I liken the books to being similar to the Magic Tree House series with Christian themes and better writing (You won't find rampant sentence fragments passed off as complete sentences, in the Imagination Station series.).

My seven year old really enjoys reading these books and she zips through the stories with ease.  The books are real page turners and will hold a young reader's interest.

As a parent, I like that the book offers some questions at the end of the book as well as an activity puzzle.  Anything that reinforces the story and encourages reading comprehension is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

I was provided with a review copy of Imagination Station: Challenge on the Hill of Fire by the publisher, Tyndale, in exchange for my honest review.  Visit Amazon for more information on this title or to purchase a copy.
